Ahhhh... le voici le voila, mon petit sejour tant attendu sur lequel j'ai passe beaucoup beaucoup de temps... Enfin surtout a harceler l'hotel de mails pour avoir une chambre que j'ai finalement eu. D'ailleurs c'est peut etre plus la fierte et l'excitation de mon cote qui me faisaient languir d'arriver.
Haaaa..... here we are, my little escape that I was waiting for, that took me a long time to prepare... mostly because I was harassing the hotel with emails to get a room and I got what I wanted, so maybe it was more pride and excitement on my part.
Et j'avais bien raison... Le pied total! And I was right... It was great!
A 5h du matin le transfert etait a l'hotel, pour nous amener jusqu'a l'aerodrome. At 5am the transfer from the hotel to the airport was here.

Ils nous transferent en bateau jusqu'a l'hotel... Pas de voitures a Tortuguero.
They transfer us in a boat... That's right, there are NO cars in Tortuguero.
Il est 7h30 du matin, on a faim et l'hotel nous acceuille avec un bon petit dejeuner. Notre chambre sera prete peu de temps apres, pendant que les enfants jouent dans la piscine.
It's 7:30am and we are hungry! the hotel welcome us with a gigantic Tico breakfast and our room will be ready shortly after, while the kids are enjoying the pool.

La chambre n'avait que des moustiquaires aux fenetres, pas de vitres. Une ambiance depaysante! On a pu entendre les singes hurleurs pour la premiere fois cet apres midi la. Ils "hurlent" le matin vers 5h au lever du soleil et vers 16h... Ici le soleil se couche a 18h.
Je n'ai pas pris le balcon en photo mais nous avions un hammac et deux fauteuils... J'y ai passe pas mal de temps avec mon bouquin, a surveiller les enfants en bas dans la piscine :)
The room only had screened windows, no glass. The atmosphere was exotic! We heard for the first time the Howler Monkeys, they are small but very loud especially around 5am (sunrise) and 4pm. The sunset here is at 6pm.
I have no pictures of our balcony but we had a hammock and 2 lounge chairs... I spent a great amount of time in the hammock with my book, listening to the Nature and looking over the kids in the pool downstairs :)
Ce soir la nous avons fait l'excursion pour aller voir les tortues de mer pondre. L'excursion se fait de 20h a 22h et est tres reglementee. Photo interdite, on marche au clair de lune en suivant notre guide et les "gardiens de tortues" nous appellent quand le moment vient. Il ne faudrait surtout pas la deranger pendant qu'elle creuse son nid, sinon elle repart a la mer sans pondre et peut en mourir.
Nous avons eu la chance de voir 4 tortues, dont 2 pondre leurs oeufs (elles en pondent pres d'une centaine), l'autre refermer son nid, une qui repart a la mer apres avoir fini. Tres impressionant! Tortuguero est la 2eme plage reputee pour la ponte des tortues de mers apres l'Australie. Nous etions pile dans la bonne periode qui va de mai a aout.
That night we went to see the nestling Green sea turtles. The excursion is only at night and has a strong regulation. No pictures allowed, we walk under the moon light following our guide and wait to hear from the "turtle guardian" when is the right time to approach them. We got very lucky and saw 4 of them, 2 nestling (they lay about a hundred eggs), 1 recovering her hole and 1 going back to the sea after she was done. Very impressive! Tortuguero is the second famous beach after Australia to spot the nestling turtles. They usually come between May and August, we were right on time.
